Gun Buyers - You Are Being Registered
The 1986 Firearm Owners Protection Act, and the Brady Act, specifically prohibit the practice of compiling information on firearms purchasers whose purchases are not blocked by NICS (computer background checks). Yet, the FBI continues to use NICS to compile dossiers on legitimate gun owners. To attempt to remedy this obvious violation of law and your civil rights, Senator Bob Smith (R-NH) and Representative Tom Coburn (R-OK) have introduced S.597 and H.R. 1178 respectively. These bills explicitly prohibit the Clinton-Gore administration’s ongoing practice of registering every retail firearm purchased through NICS. Contact your local congressman and let them know you support these resolutions. (posted August 9, 1999) |

More Gun Laws - Come On!
There are already laws governing the transfer (sale, etc.) of firearms which apply regardless of where the transfer takes place. You wouldn’t know this listening to all the legislative talking heads. Recently Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) and Representative Rod Blagojevich (E-IL) introduced more controls that mean nothing to gun criminals. The Senate passed the Lautenberg Amendment (S.443) but the Blagojevich billed failed. Gun owners need to be watchful and monitor all bills being presented before congress and let your voices be heard. (posted July 31, 1999) |
